Faction Improvements : Aeon Illuminate | United Earth Federation | Cybran Collective

AeonUnited Earth Federation

With the fall and destruction of Black Sun, the UEF was almost completely shattered. Carefully pulling itself back from the tatters of its former self, a strong undercurrent of fierce resentment and anger towards the Cybran Collective has arisen, fueled by unconfirmed reports of attacks and atrocities committed against those the Cybrans considered the 'lesser race'. While the Federation knew it couldn't keep up with the Aeon's technology, nor the Cybran's annoyingly superior stealth, it did know how to build a solid design. It may take a while for them to recover what they had lost, but the United Earth Federation was determined to never be forced into a corner again. Their designs might be slower, and their technology limited, but their ability to absorb damage until they arrived, and then to deal out the punishment once they were there - that was unmatched anywhere in the galaxy. Below highlights the major unit changes for UEF.

UEF ACU

Not much has changed over time with the UEF ACU. Slight improvements to the 'Rover' shoulder-launched engineering drone has expanded its build menu, and when the enhancement usage statistics showed that the personal bubble shield generator was never actually used in combat, UEF engineers replaced it with a stronger personal shield instead. Billy the Nuke, as it was affectionately called, got an upgrade to its navigational suite, allowing it to fly low and beneath enemy antinuke defences, although making it vulnerable to anti-tactical missiles. Having the extra space anyways, the construction ability of the ACU was upgraded as well, with a new 'nanolathe' upgrade almost doubling base production rates.

Land

Tech 1
  • M4 Main Battle Tank

Increased chassis size has allowed this tank to carry even more armor than before. While still suffering from issues of fire control and accuracy, UEF engineers have been able to install a targeting computer that improves firing while stationary.

  • M24 Mech Marine

Fast and wielding dual guns, this unit is now key to almost every quick raid. While fast on their feet, their armor is thin, so keep them out of heavy combat.

Tech 2
  • M8 Pillar Heavy Assault Tank

A larger body, more armor, and dual firing cannons are all improvements made to the Pillar. Now the true staple of any UEF army, this tank is a heavy hitter, able to absorb and dish out large amounts of damage. Unfortunately all this 'extra' has slowed the Pillar down - not only in mobility, but also in turret speed. While a formation of Pillars is a fearsome thing, responding to attack from an unexpected angle will cost them valuable seconds to swivel their guns around.

Tech 3
  • M45A2 Titan Siege Assault Walker

With the improvements to the Pillar, the Titan really began to fall on hard times. Overpriced and burdened with overly complicated shielding systems, Titans began to be scrapped all across UEF territory. Unwilling to lose the mobility and responsiveness that a walking combat chassis gave them, UEF designers rethought the Titan entirely, and produced the Titan Mk II. Complicated fire control and energy management systems were replaced with massive armor plating and stronger components. While the final result was a unit that was more expensive than almost anything in the UEF arsenal, the Titan now towers over the battlefield. Huge amounts of armor may slow the Titan down, but it can absorb enemy fire like none other, and if it manages to get in among the enemy, the unrelenting firepower of its dual cannons spell doom for any nearby.

  • M114 Thumper Mobile Howitzer

The inefficiency of the Demolisher to live up to its namesake forced UEF commanders to adopt the aging Thumper back into active service. With longer range and faster firing rate, the 20 year old Thumper delivers.

Sea

Tech 1
  • Tigershark Class Attack Submarine

With the UEF's mindset of power over stealth, the Tigershark's surface performance in both speed and armament has been vastly boosted since the war. Furthermore, with improved stealth capabilities, the tigershark can remain completely invisible when immobile.

  • Improved Thunderhead Class Frigate

With the introduction of Aeon hover tanks, UEF have improved the Thunderhead class frigate with better weaponry to counter the threat. The Thunderhead mounts a high rate of fire Mk203 area dispersal cannon which has proven highly effective against slow hover units such as the Auroras

Tech 2
  • Defiant (Improved Valiant) Class Destroyer

Nearing the end of the war, UEF naval commanders began an extensive program of modernization of aging capital ships starting with the main stay of the UEF surface fleet, the Valiant. Adding more armor and introducing a wider birth, the new Defiant is equipt with a stronger torpedo defense system, a slew on new electronics packages and pair of improved Mk303A2 dual linked autocannons.

  • Mjolnir AEGIS Cruiser

Nearing the end of the war, UEF naval commanders began an extensive program of modernization of aging capital ships starting with the Valiant. Adding more armor and a wider birth, the Valiant is now equipt with a stronger torpedo defense system and faster rate of fire Mk303 cannons.

Tech 3
  • Invincible Class Battlecruiser

With the retirement of the Summit class battleship, a new gap in the UEF navy had to be filled. Using the tried and true chassis of the Summit, UEF engineers increased the tonnage by over 30%. With improvements to its armor protection, electronics warfare / missile defense package and installation of the 9 new Mk44 rail cannons, the Invincible lives up to its name sake.

  • Trident Class SSBM / SSGM

The Trident class SSBM is the staple of UEF's nuclear warfare arsenal. After the disasterously overbudgeted Ace class nuclear submarine, UEF Admiralty requested a cheap alternative to the deployment of nuclear weapons on enemy soil. The Trident class was created based on the proven Tigershark design philosophy. With changing winds, Trident class became a dual purpose SSBM/SSGM submarine capable of launching both nuclear and conventional warheads. Housing a nano manufactoring plant, the Trident has the ability to self manufacture missile under the sea. With storage spaces capable of carrying up to 8 Polaris IRBMs and unlimited Sandworm cruise missiles. However, after several problems during sea trials, the success of the Diamond class remains to be seen.

Air

Tech 1
  • F-23 Whirlwind Interceptor

The Cyclone was a disaster in the war. Its heavy slow firing cannon often overheated due to lack of cooling, its accuracy was also somewhat in question. UEF Engineers scrapped the Cyclone as soon as resources freed up and created the Whirlwind loosely based on the Cyclone chassis. Instead of the slow firing Mk43 autocannon, they replaced it with a Mk233 six barrelled minigun. Improvements to avionics also helped the Whirlwind gain an impressive performance, however at the cost of range.

Tech 2
  • AH-52 Longbow Support Gunship

The Stinger has been a staple of UEF air support since the great war. Improvements on armor and flying tactics has enabled the Avenger to fly through shields to strike the heart of its generators.

  • B-33 Monsoon Torpedo Bomber

The aging Stork torpedo bomber left the UEF navy with no air to sea capability. Tsunami was created to replace the Stork with improved sonar capabilities and greater complement of torpedoes.

Tech 3
  • *CLASSIFIED* SR-92 Blackeagle Hypersonic Reconnaisance Aircraft

The secretive Blackbird was UEF's top weapon of espionage. Little is known about the next generation Blackbird except for its name, the Blackeagle.

  • AH-74 Tomahawk Heavy Support Gunship

The success of the broadsword lead to the developement of the Redeemer. Sacrificing speed for armor and firepower, the Redeemer carves a slow path of destruction wherever it ends up.
